I have had the honor to be DJing & entertaining at weddings since 1989. In that time frame, I have also worked with many DJ’s & M.C.’s that I have admired. I have seen amazingly strong & talented DJ’s & M.C.’s who can control an event and help everyone attending have one great experience. But not all DJ’s are the same.
Why are you saying this, Lou? Don’t all DJ’s just play music? Yes… and No.
Yes, the term DJ or Disc Jockey is for those who play music.
The term M.C. (as we label it in the North East) or Master of Ceremony is an entertainer who talks on the microphone!
How about I give you a history lesson about this! Back in the 80’s, D.J’s started to become more of the norm at weddings and other social events. But DJ’s needed help moving all that equipment back then! The roadie was always a good friend who had a fun personality and was outgoing. Or it was another DJ who owned half of the gear used! While one DJ would spin, the other would talk on the mic. The term Master of Ceremony was a marketing term to sell a bigger, more fun experience and why DJ’s are equal to bands!
Let’s fast forward to 2018. Anyone can be a DJ in this digital time! Get a laptop, download music! You can get a gig at a club and make people dance. This new DJ’s is asked by a friend to DJ their wedding. That DJ now noticed they can make more money at Weddings!! BOOM… with that the MIX-DJ or Re-mix DJ experience has flooded the market! So why are all DJ still not the same, you ask? Just because a DJ can re-mix a song doesn’t mean he knows how to control a full wedding event. Does he know how to make a time line? Make the correct announcement of the wedding party? Speak during the event to let people know about dinner or even the sparkler exit?
This is where a professional Wedding DJ becomes a true Wedding Master of Ceremony! Yes, this professional does mix the music and keeps the beat matched. This type of entertainer does mix different styles of music together and might make a mash-up live at your event! With this great DJ experience, they also know when to talk and interact with your crowd. This is true wedding entertainment! We have noticed that many venue locations love this way of entertaining at a wedding from us! They can feel confident that a Spectrum DJ will control the event, stay on the time line and make those guests of the happy couple dance!
Isn’t this what you want?
