One thing is for sure. We all can’t wait until 2021. Things have to be better. But us, as DJ’s, can only think this way… “I can’t wait for all the music that didn’t come out to come out in 2021!”
Yes, 2020 was a totally lost year in many ways! Music was put on hold from February to about the end of August. Why? Well, you don’t make money in the music business if you can’t tour! We did have some good music that did come out right before the great shut down. We still have some great music coming out now, thanks to TikTok (check out a blog I did on that) and other social media networks.
We do have 20 really great songs that need to be remembered. So let’s have a countdown!
#20 – Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande – Rain on Me
DJ’s all over the world were excited about Lady Gaga’s new album. It was danceable! The clubs and wedding dance floors all over the world would love it!
It did get as high as #1, but again, COVID (NUF SAID)
#19 – Drake – Toosie Slide
We all love a song we can do a dance to! Yep, don’t kid yourself.
Drake gave us one and we loved it! How much? Number One hit baby!
#18 – Breaking Me – Topic ft A7S
TikTok helped this song reach number 3 on the charts. Great flow to this jam!
#17 – Bad Guy – Billie Eilish
Talk about a song you can’t stop. This was a huge hit for Billie and her brother. He produced the whole album in his bed room!
It did get as high as #2.
#16 – Roxanne- Arizona Zervas
This poor artist! He dropped this song in Jan. and COVID took away his time in the spot light!
He did peak at #4.
#15 – Physical – Dua Lipa
We can only hope, with the restart of life in 2021, that Dua Lipa can keep her dance feel going!
This song peaked at #3 on the charts this year.
#14 – Harry Styles – Adore You
Poor Harry. He has some amazing music and we know he will keep it going for 2021!
This song peaked at #7 on the charts.
#13 – Harry Styles – Watermelon Sugar
HA! Back-to-back! Sorry Harry. The teenage girls might like this song, but it was one of our most requested songs not to play this year!
#12 – Savage – Megan Thee Stallion
She did peak at #2 this year with this song! Is this song the pre-curser to WAP? Listen to them both. They sound almost the same!
#11 – Say So – Doja Cat
I am a huge fan of this song. So funky!!! But not funky enough to take #1 on the pop charts. It stalled at #2.
#10 – Supalonley – BENNE
When the lock down took kids out of school, this song hit it’s peak! The song gained immense popularity on the online video-sharing platform TikTok in March 2020, gaining more than 6.9 billion plays for the month. WOW!
#9 – Own It – Stormy ft. Ed Sheeran & Bura Boy
Number one on the charts here! How does Ed Sheeran get on so many songs?
#8 – Someone You Loved – Lewis Capaldi
Talk about tear jerker! He did peak at number 1 in many countries, sadly because of many lost in 2020.
#7 – The Box – Roddy Ricch
That trap sound, and the angry feel of this song helped Roddy peaked at #2.
#6 – Before You Go – Lewis Capaldi
Another kick to the heart song by Lewis Capaldi. This one also hit number 1 on many charts all over the world!
#5 – Rockstar – DaBaby ft Roddy Ricch
Pure hit with this song! I have the clean version of this song here, but you must watch the official video if you love ZOMBIE movies!!
#4 – Don’t Start Now – Dua Lipa
The music style all of us in the DJ world was hoping would take 2020 by storm.
Pure dance, pure fun, easy to sing and groove to!! Too bad it stopped at #2 on the charts!
#3 – Roses – SAINt JHN
The tale of 2 versions!
One version of this song is slow and kind of….. ugh. That’s the best way to explain it. Then there is the Remix version! Yep, pure dance hall club stuff right there. Enough to be the remix of the year in my book!
#2 – Dance Monkey – Tones & I
What can be said about this hit song?! You will be suffering from Ear Worm like Sponge Bob with this hit! Silly song of the year.
#1 – Blinding Lights – Weekend
It was January, and this song would take us back in time to the 80’s feel! Some say it sounds like it should have been on the show Stranger Things.
Hand’s down, best song of 2020!
So there you have it! The Top 20 songs of this DJ’s mind in 2020. You notice how I didn’t have Cardi B on this list. You can always call me and ask why!!
See you on the dance floor!
