In the midst of this pandemic together, we are living in a very significant time-frame that is requiring a lot of change and compromise in the way we do things… and our children and grandchildren will eventually learn all about it in their history books. In times like these, I find it especially helpful to focus on what I am most grateful for personally. In particular, I want to share a few things that I love about what I do for a living.
The Wonderful World of Audio Visual Magic!
As an Audio/ Visual sales manager, the main purpose of my job is to utilize technology and help create experiences that bring people together to share a message. I went to college for audio engineering which gave me the ability to know how speakers, microphones, and mixers work and I could have pursued be working in a studio, in live sound, or working in post-production to create sound in movies, but I chose my career based on what my education and work experiences can do to help other people achieve their own visions. I love that because of what we do… people are heard, people are seen, and that content is shared in all sorts of creative ways!
Working in the events industry requires a keen sense for details, a lot of know-how, and at times can be incredibly stressful, but it also is an insanely rewarding job. It’s our job to bring joy to people and to help create memorable events. Nothing beats having a happy client who couldn’t have achieved what they imagined without our help.
COVID-19 and Virtual Events
With current restrictions on gatherings, and with social distancing in place, we’ve seen a huge hit to the events industry. As things are evolving, we continue to find new and exciting ways to connect others and achieve our goals. It truly is incredible to see some of the virtual events that have been hosted and all the new ways to keep people engaged. I love that I work in an industry of people who truly care about others and strives to keep events happening.
If you have ever hosted an event or been behind the scenes, you know that there are all sorts of factors that can spring up and threaten to ruin your experience, and it is on our shoulders as professionals to find a way to keep the show going by spinning it into something wonderful. I feel like that virtual events are our way of doing this. We can keep the ball rolling, we keep people connected and entertained, but, most importantly, we are keeping people safe.
Stay tuned for my next blog that shows some creative ideas for how to put on a virtual event!
